2007 Boulder Mountainbike Alliance Banquet & Auction

The annual BMA Banquet & Auction was held at the St. Julien Hotel, Friday, February 2nd. More than 140 supporters joined us to celebrate BMA's 2006 accomplishments and to raise money to support mountain biking in Boulder County. The gathering included decision makers, land managers, members of the cycling business community, and BMA members.

Once a year we put on our finer threads and party at the swankiest place we can find in Boulder. It's not our usual cup of tea, but when we decide to do it, we do it right! This regal evening included a three course meal, silent auction, live auction and a raffle for a beautiful room at the St. Julien.

We are happy to report that everyone had a great time!

Andy Hampsten, the only American ever to win the Giro d'Italia, was our esteemed emcee for the evening. Several presentations are worthy of note. Wonderland Hills Development Company presented BMA with a check for $15,000 (wow!). Ed Perault of the USFS Boulder Ranger District presented a plaque and certificate of appreciation to the Boulder Mountain Bike Patrol, and specifically to Jason Vogel, Boulder Mountain Bike Patrol coordinator.

This year's event was successful on many levels, but it's worth noting how many elected officials and land managers we had in attendance. Mike Patton, Director of Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks Department, chatted about the upcoming new trails in South Boulder. County Commissioners Will Toor and Ben Pearlman spoke about Heil Ranch and the trail connection into Lyons . President Mike Barrow acknowledged the four members of the Boulder City Council in the audience and thanked them for their support of the Visitor Master Plan. The remarks were kept short and sweet... after all, it's not an election year!

This year's auction had some of the coolest items ever. Thanks to everyone who donated to make this fund raiser a success.

Through the generosity of those who attended or otherwise supported the event, BMA raised over $5,000 to help fund this year's activities! Again, our thanks to everyone who contributed.

Next year should be even better! In the meantime, we'll be planning for much less posh events throughout the season. Beer, Brats and Rock and Roll!
