Trail Mix:
Fun Rides for Everyone August
28, 2010, 9:00 am -
Noon
Beat the August heat and join BMA up in
Nederland for Co-Ed FUN ride at the West
Magnolia and Dots trail systems. This is not
a race! Instead, it's a morning of riding
with your friends, your sweetheart, your kids, and
other like-minded mountain bikers. Whatever
your level, we will have a ride geared for you, so
you can take it nice and mellow or hammer with the
big boyz (and big gurlz!). We will divvy up
into beginner, intermediate and advanced groups,
each heading out with leaders and sweepers to show
you the way. A kid's ride will be held from
10:00 to noon.
The ride will be
followed by a picnic or BBQ lunch, provided
courtesy of the Boulder Mountain Bike
Alliance. Riders
will meet at the main West Magnolia Trail Head on
Peak-to-Peak Hwy, just south of the intersection
with Magnolia Road. Participants for adult rides
should arrive no later than 8:45 am and be ready
to ride at 9:00 am. Participants for the
kid's ride should arrive no later than 9:45 and be
ready to ride at 10:00. Each small group will
have a Ride Leader and a Ride Sweeper, so no one
will get lost. After the ride, we will
all reconvene at the trailhead for lunch and
socializing.
The ride is open to 60
participants, so preregistration is
required. Please send any questions
to bmagirls.rideleader@gmail.com |

Sufferfest
2010!
September 18th,
2010
SufferFest is a fully supported
ride and campout for BMA members. The route
challenges riders on sweet single-track and rough
terrain. Starting in Nederland, riders have the
choice of a long route or an even longer route
that eventually ends at Beaver Reservoir. As a
point to point, the route is about 33 miles. For
those feeling strong and mighty, we encourage you
to continue past base camp and complete the loop
around the Middle St. Vrain for a total of 44.5
miles. Check out the map: SufferFest 2010 Route
After the ride, we will be celebrating
with tasty food and cold beverages provided by
Oskar Blues and camping under the stars. Expect a
roaring campfire, the air filled with bike
stories, and good times with your friends.
Did we mention it is FREE for members?
Participation is limited, so don't drag your
feet too long! Sign up or renew your membership here, and then
click over here to sign up for the ride.
Wondering why we do this? Well,
this is BMA's way of thanking all the members for
a great year of trail stewardship, bike patrol,
and trail building. Without you, nothing would get
done around here! Questions? Let us
know! sufferfest.bma@gmail.com |

St. Vrain Trail
Completed!
The successful completion of a joint July
31/August 1 trail project by BMA & WRV
(Wildlands Restoration Volunteers) means the South
St Vrain Trail east from Brainard Lake is now open
to mountain bikes. Several years of planning and
multi-day projects in 2009 and 2010 finally
completed a reroute of the old South St. Vrain
Trail. The reroute moves the trail out of the
wilderness, resulting in the opening of the trail
to mountain bikes. The new trail alignment offers
a greatly improved experience for all users, some
special features for experts, and allows the
restoration of environmental impacts from the
previous trail. BMA thanks WRV and the USDA Forest
Service for their support and contributions to
this accomplishment!
